Amsterdam: Eating-house with a terrace at lake Sloterplas
Not many eating houses in Amsterdam, have a view like this. Sitting on the terrace, you can see lake Sloterplas. This picture is taken in on a hot summer night in august, with no wind, looking south west.
However, storms blowing from south west to north east can be very spectacular. Just remember, no matter which season or wheater, the view is allways amazing.
As you might know, one third of Holland consists of retained land (polders): Land "made in Holland". The same we do with lakes (we have to keep our water somewhere). Lake Sloterplas has been excavated between 1948 and 1954.
The length of Lake Sloterplas is 2 kilometer (1.2 mile), width 500 meters (0.3 mile), depth 20 meters (66 ft) average and 40 meters (132 ft.) maximum.
